Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Slice

I always seem to do more baking at this time of year. This time I needed to make something to take to work for my birthday and this Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Slice seemed like the perfect choice!

This recipe makes 24 small pieces, and I strongly recommend making the pieces small as it is rich!

Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Slice

1 cup plain flour

1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

3/4 cup desicated coconut

125g butter, melted

a tin of caramel sweetened condensed milk

100g macadamia nuts, roughly chopped

295g chocolate buttons

Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Slice

  1. Preheat the oven to 180deg C. Grease and line a 28cm x 18cm x 3 cm deep slice pan with baking paper. Combine flour, brown sugar and desicated coconut in a bowl. Add melted butter and stir until combined. Press mixture into base of prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden and cool.
  2. Heat Caramel sweetened condensed milk until almost smooth. Then stir in the macadamia nuts. Poor over cooled base and bake for 20 minutes. Cool.
  3. Chocolate Caramel Macadamia SlicePlace chocolate into a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Make sure the base does not touch the water. Stir until smooth. Spread over slice. Cool until the chocolate has set. Cut into squares and serve. I recommend using a hot knife so the chocolate doesn’t crack when cut.
