Genuine Fraud – book review

Genuine Fraud - book review

Genuine Fraud is the lasted book by E Lockhart. For review of her previous books check out my posts onĀ We are Liars and The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks. Emily Lockhart has written 7 YA previous novels and Genuine Fraud is the 8th. The story is a thriller, telling us of the friendship between Imogen and Jule. The two girls both orphans but have come from very different background. They seemed to be the best of friends but at some point things take a dark turn.

The book is written in a way that we are taken back in time in each chapter, learning more details about what happened between the girls. Until finally the truth, which is hinted at in the book is revealed in the last chapter. The two girls are interesting characters, initially seemingly harmless. But as we learn more about them we find the girls are not what they appear. Imogen who is an heiress, a runaway but also a cheat and manipulator. Jule is tough, a fighter, a liar who is reinventing herself, but how far will she go to get the life she wants?

Definitely a good read and if you enjoyed We are Liars I recommend you check out Genuine Fraud.
