I think we all know the story of King Arthur and Camelot, the knights of the round table and of course the sword Excalibur. Well the new movie King Arthur – Legend of the Sword brings us the story remade. Its starts with the death of King Uther and his wife Igraine by the Kings brother Vortigern. Uther before dying manages to get their son Arthur to safety.

Arthur floats into the city Londinium and is found by prostitutes who take him home and raise him. By the time Arthur is a man he and his ‘gang’ are running the brothel and various other street ‘businesses’.

Meanwhile the rumour that the born king still lives is growing and the King Vortigern is getting anxious, especially when the water recedes revealing the sword stuck in stone. So the King gets his ‘black legs’ to round up every man in the city of the right age to try to pull the stone. Arthur believes he is an orphan and so unknowingly takes his turn to pull the sword.

Guy Ritchie is the director and you can definitely see his style in the movie from David Beckham’s part as one of the ‘black legs’ to the london accents and street style of Arthur and his ‘gang’. Pitched to the studio as Lord of the Rings meets Snatch (also by Guy Ritchie) I think it totally hits the mark.
