Vivid Sydney festival

Vivid Sydney

Waratah at Martin Place

Vivid Sydney is an annual 3 week festival in Sydney celebrating Light, Music and Ideas. Some of the events/exhibitions combine more than one of the items, the others focus just on one, but regardless they are all amazing. This year it is on 26 May – 17 June.

Organic Vibrations at Museum of Contemporary Art Australia

Throughout the festival there are a number of paid and free events you can attend. I only had one night in Sydney so I didn’t worry too much about any of the ticketed events but instead spent the evening wandering around the Harbour, Botanic Gardens and Martin Place.

Lighting of the Sails – Audio Creatures Sydney Opera House

There are a number of areas which have free exhibits around Sydney. Including those I managed to get to as well as Chatswood and Surry Hills. Originally the festival started just in the Harbour area but each year it gets bigger and bigger.

If you are planning on being in Sydney in the next few weeks, definitely make sure you have some time to check out the festival. Otherwise put it in your calendar for next year! Check out the Vivid Sydney website for all the details of the festival and different events as well as the app which can provide a free audio guide.
